Jap
Nambu 1944 8mm (jap0$144404)

Caliber 8mm
8 round mag
4 1/2" Brl
Condition: Used/Appears to be refinished / VG - EX
Other - Brown grips are the originals and are serialized to the gun.
The original grips are a little loose, could be shimmed up, but we put
a set of replacements on the gun
and set the origionals aside.
From the visible serialized parts they all appear to match the gun -
maybe even the mag.
Dated: 19.4 - April 1944 - late war production
Markings
on rear left side of slide

From what I can make of the serial # and arsenal marking on the rear of the slide I referenced
"Nambu World:
Teri's WWII Japanese Handgun Website"
http://members.shaw.ca/nambuworld2/t14markings.htm
to come up with - "Toriimatsu Second Series pistol. As noted above, it has the Nagoya arsenal symbol,
followed by the series
marker (a small square inside a circle), followed by the
serial number. The little square in the series marker is the Japanese katakana
(phonetic) symbol ro (pronounced as
in grow your boath); it is the second gletterh in the traditional order of
the Japanese
galphabeth. Serial numbers in the Second Series run from 1 to
around 73000"
Teri is one expert on these Japanese handguns - it you do nothing else check out her web site.

The last number of the seiral #, 2, on the trigger. There are 2
other #s under there but I just can't see them completely and
I'm not taking it apart.
