It is with much regret that we
suspend all firearm related instruction as a result of escalating insurance
costs for providing such instruction. This suspension will remain in
effect until we can find affordable insurance.
ARIZONA
CCW RECIPROCITY
Basic
Instruction - We teach the NRA Basic Firearm Safety
Course.
This course is open to all
firearms enthusiasts over the age of 21. This age restriction is a
result of Federal Laws, it is unlawfull to sell a handgun to anyone under
the age of 21 or give a handgun to anyone under 21 years of age. Our
interputation - we are not allowed to provide anyone under 21 a handgun in
a classroom setting or allowed to let them handle a handgun in a classroom
environment, except as noted below.
Exception
to this class eligibility policy
will be with a written waiver from a parent or legal guardian for those under
21 years of age.

CCW- Our CCW Class and instructor
are approved by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
CCW Eligibility - What requirements you must meet to qualify for a CCW permit?
- LAWFULLY PRESENT
in the United States and the State of Arizona. A resident of the state
of Arizona for 6 months.
- AT LEAST 21 YEARS
OF AGE.
- NOT under indictment or have NOT been convicted of
a felony - set aside or expunged.
- Do NOT suffer
from mental illness.
- SATISFACTORILY COMPLETED
a DPS approved Firearms Safety Program. Minimum class length is 16 hours.

CCW Renewals -
The DPS will accept applications for CCW renewals
90 days prior to an individuals' CCW expiration date. Therefore, if
your permit expires on October 4, 1998, the DPS will not accept your renewal
application prior to July 4, 1998.
Who Has to Take a CCW Renewal Class - all current CCW holders who's
licenses are due to expire within 90 days. Special note to retired Law Enforcement Officers
- If you are currently a retired law enforcement officer, with a minimum
of 10 years service, who was exempt from the original 16 hours class, you
must take the 4 hour renewal class.
Class Objectives
- Know the legal justification and responsibility for using deadly physical
force
- Know the legal requirements and obligations for carrying a concealed
weapon
- Know the limits on where a concealed weapon can be carried
- Know the penalties for domestic violence convictions
- Be aware of the Federal Gun-Free School Zone law
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of
appropriate statutes in judgmental use of force situations
- Be able to list the four basic rules of safe gun handling
- Be aware of the need to safeguard weapons outside the home
- Successfully complete a written test with a score of at least 70%
- Successfully qualify with a handgun
- Minimum 70% pass/fail qualification
- No time limit
- NRA TQ15
or equivalent: i.e., secondary scoring qualification ring equal to or less
than 14"x16"
- Any shots outside the secondary scoring ring will not be counted as
a hit
- Five round at five yards
- Five rounds a ten yards
